Describe your video store - what did it look like? What were its distinguishing features? dont remember too much it was a tiny store had candy and pop in front t-shirts next then a couple of videos on a wall then a door to the back.
What were the employees and/or owners like, and what kinds of interactions did you have with them? What particularly memorable exchanges or events do you remember? I dont remember anyone working there, I dont think I ever saw them. Hey, I was 6 I was only interested in the candy, go figure.
What other services/products did the store offer besides the rental or sale of videos? Did this change over time? Um thats funny, Im pretty sure there was some prostitution going on in the back but they sold t-shirts and candy, thats all I remember about it except for the smell, think third world cooking and burning tires.
What video formats did the store offer (i.e. VHS, Beta, Laserdisc)? Where were different formats kept in the store? Beta it was all beta
In addition to mainstream Hollywood movies, what other kinds of videotapes (for example children's, exercise, or X-rated) did the store rent/sell? Where were these videos found in the store, and how often did you rent or purchase them? I just remember seeing the Superman oh and maybe porkies
Did you tend to rent or buy videos? Why? my neighbor had the player so he bought the videos
During the period that you shopped at this store, what changes did you see? none. in fact its still the same last I heard except they got more videos and the hookers got older.
Is this store still open? If not, when did it close? yea, well it was 8 years ago, maybe now its gone, I dont know.
In your own words, tell the story of your first VCR/video player. Where and when did you buy it, and why did you decide to make the purchase? I was 8 or 9 when my parents bought the first vcr. I was estatic cus I couldnt stay up late enought to watch Falcon Crest or Hunter so my mother recorded it for me to watch after I did my homework.
Did you ever rent a VCR or other hardware (a camera, for instance)? If so, how often and why? no way buying is the only way to go. to expencive to rent.
