| Abstract: | Letter to Milton Barnes from his wife Rhoda Barnes. Rhoda writes about her deep sorrow after the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln on April 14, 1865. She uses several Bible verses in this letter. She is also distraught as she has heard rumors from several townspeople that Lincoln's successor, Vice President Andrew Johnson was intoxicated during his swearing-in. |
